New Spaces
Designing a new space can be an exciting time and likely the result of a new home, a remodel or business venture...but sometimes this excitement can turn into feelings of frustration.
Why?
Well simply put, what we envision doesn’t always work in reality. The human tendency is to see things in stages. We purchase that new home or accept that promotion with a promise of what this opportunity can offer us. Materialistically this can mean updates, home additions, new furnishings, décor, paint, etc...
That excitement can quickly disappear when we are faced with the overwhelming amount of choices, and for some a tighter budget than projected considering the cost of these new endeavors. If you’ve been in this situation, it might sound familiar.
What couch to buy? What material to choose? What color to paint? Will this even look good? Ugh…someone please do this for me!
In the grind of all this newfound initial excitement wearing off, one of two things typically happens. 1. We settle for - That looks good enough. or 2. Ruin the experience by wearing ourselves out trying to find the perfect style and décor, and in the process left with the feeling of never wanting to do it again.
As a self-proclaimed humanitarian and founder of Sea Moore Style, I understand ‘the struggle is real!’ Sea Moore Style was created with a vision to offer affordable services, advice, and opportunities for every budget.
As someone who has design experience and is passionate about interior decorating you might assume creating new spaces comes easy to me. I promise you there’s nothing especially ‘easy’ about it. Even with the gift to design it takes work and many times revised visions! An open mind to this process is a necessary step.
My next blog will cover tips and starting points to interior design and creating a new space, as well as common mistakes made while tackling this mission and how to be a creative thinker when working through the design process of a new space. Essentially, how to think outside the box.
